Soft, sensual fabrics are something
that we all love, whether it's silk or faux fur there's many of us
that can't resist touching! Maybe it brings back happy memories, a
little like a reminder of a baby blanket, whatever the reason,
sensuous fabrics have been associated with luxury for hundreds, if
not thousands, of years.
Today interior designers have reignited
the need to include various textures in our homes via our choice of
fabrics for soft furnishings and bedding. Cushion covers made from
soft-touch fabrics, the warmth of fur, natural or otherwise, and even
giving comfort to our bare feet in the form of deep piled rugs.
We love to touch and while many may
have phobias about a particular touch sensation, for the most part we
surround ourselves with a variety of different textures in our homes
blissfully unaware of them being there. However, take them away and
you'll soon realise that there missing.
Next time you choose fabric for making
soft furnishings or choose new bedding pause and think about the
sensuousness of the fabric – then the reason for your choices
should become apparent.
